China Uncensored is a New York-based satirical news show that covers the topics the Chinese Communist Party tries to censor, and brings them to a Western audience. The China Uncensored team was in Hong Kong to cover the 2014 Umbrella Movement and the 2019 Anti-Extradition protests. China Uncensored belongs to an independent media company co-owned by hosts Chris Chappell, Shelley Zhang, and Matt Gnaizda.

They aim to foster a coherent and collaborative diasporic community in order to enrich the global dialogue about Hong Kong’s democratic development and human rights issues. Their work focuses on educational outreach, community empowerment, and policy advocacy.
